The library "QD3DViewer" is a OpenDoc-based 3DMF viewer. It allows you to embed 3DMF files in OpenDoc documents. It uses the QuickDraw™ 3D Viewer API to support this functionality. This viewer will function with QuickDraw 3D 1.0.3, however it works best with QuickDraw 3D 1.0.4.
Features
• Supports both 3DMF files and 3DMF scrap.
• Supports the standard QD3D viewer user interaction and cursor.
• Writes out a snapshot of the 3D image as a PICT. If the viewer or QuickDraw 3D is not installed and the document was previously opened with the viewer installed, then the PICT will be visible.
• Does not support drag and drop into the viewer. This is the correct HI for a viewer.
• Supports printing.
• The camera position of a 3D object is persistent.
• Apple Guide support. See setup notes below.
Known Problems
• If you select the part as an embedded frame and drag it to the desktop and then open the newly created document you'll get a invalid frame error.
Apple Guide Support
To get Apple Guide support for the 3D viewer you need three things:
• You need to have Apple Guide 2.1b3 or later installed.
• The "AppleGuidePlugInPPC" file needs to be in the "OpenDoc Shell Plug-Ins" folder within the "OpenDoc" folder within your "Editors" folder.
• The guide file "3D Viewer guide 1.0d1" needs to be in a folder entitled "Global Guide Files" within your system folder.
• (Optional) The "OpenDoc Guide" file should be in the same folder as the OpenDoc application (OpenDoc™).
Bug Reporting
Report any problems you find by using the bug report form on this CD to odbugs@apple.com or use the bug report form at http://www.opendoc.apple.com/forms/bug_report.html. In either case be sure to report the specific version of the viewer. The version can be obtained by selecting the part library and using the "Get Info" command in the finder.
